I'm a caregiver for a vegetarian, and was asked to cook a few meals. Being a non-vegetarian, this was a challenge for me, so I searched the internet, found a few recipes and then came up with one of my own using this broth along with the 'beef' and 'chicken'. It was a big hit. It came fresh in the foil pouch, and the amount was great to transfer to canning jars.

This jerky is a little better than the typical jerky you can be in the grocery store. The quality of the beef is better than the few I have tried in the store. There were a few pieces in the 4 oz bag that were difficult to deal with. This is not a dry jerky, in fact that bag says you must eat or freeze the contents within 3 days. It also contains "hydrolyzed soy protein" which is an ingredient that contains MSG in addition to containing straight monosodium glutamate. It also contains sodium nitrate, silicon dioxide, glycol propylene, and sodium erythorbate, which is stuff I don't want in my "premium beef jerky."

While the Bufalo Bills "Snafu Spicy Dead Meat Beef jerky" name might not sound appetizing, the flavor is very good.

Packed in a resealable bag, the meat is very tender and there is just the right amount of "heat" in the spices. It is just a tad bit sweet which I liked, but my kids thought detracted a little (but they still ate most of the bag :-)

I am very pleased with the quality and flavor of the jerky! Recommended!

Review of Jack Link's Beef Steak, Sweet and Hot Flavor, 2-Ounce Packages (Pack of 12)

I usually buy the Sweet&Hot jerky strips at Walmart and love the taste. I decided to try the 2oz stick from Amazon and was disappointed for 3 reasons:

1. They came with expiration date only 48 days away. I've bought a couple of grocery items from amazon and this seems to be a common pattern. I've also read reviews complaining about the expiration issue on other Amazon grocery products. I love shopping from Amazon, but this reason alone may stop me from buying perishables from them again.

2. These sticks are not nearly as soft in texture as the strips. Maybe it's because it's almost reached its expiration date?

3. The flavor is not exactly the same as the strips. It tastes more or less the same as regular beef jerky. A bit of hot (as most jerkies are), but not much sweet. Again, is age a factor?

I've tried many brands and flavors, and Jack Link's Sweet&Hot is by far my favorite. Get it in strips.. and get it from you local grocer.

After my first order of Extra Smokeys was lost in the mail by the post office, one of the owners, Paul, really took care of me and sent another package right away plus an extra $20 worth of free extra samples for my trouble.As for the product, I think it is really a flavor explosion.The smokey smell is obvious when you get too close to the bag, and the flavor is very powerful.There is just enough spice in there too but not too much.They are a little chewy, but that just makes you take smaller bites, which both lets you savor the flavor and makes each stick last longer.They are also very convenient to just grab one from the bag and eat it on the run or in the car.No mess and no wrappers left behind.Oh and after 28 days passed, the original missing package finally arrived, so now I have a new bag to start on!YES! I bought a case of these on sale.I haven't eaten them since college.I grabbed the last can (<2 weeks after they arrived) and sat down to enjoy it.The microwave can/lid works really well.Nothing spilled, no mess to clean up.The ravioli could have had meat (as advertised) cheese or even spinach inside... it's really hard to tell.The pasta is soft and gooey.My kids are begging for more.This must be kid comfort food.

Somehow I doubt it's really nutritious. I believe everything in moderation is ok though...Think I'll wait for a few months before ordering another case.

Due to my predecessors last review, I felt compelled to write a response to their unfounded complaints. I have friends that go deer hunting (Ted Nugent style) and cure the meet into jerky so they can sell it and store it for longer periods of time. They , and Wikipedia both agree. The softer the jerky, the more fat there is in it. Actually, I want to thank my predecessors for their reviews. It tells me that they know NOTHING about how jerky is suppose to look, feel, and taste. This jerky is top grade A select jerky, with just the right seasonings. I put a piece in my jaw without chewing for awhile till it gets moistened up, then I chew (this is what my friends said is the way to savor jerky). My predecessors obviously are use to jerky that's 3% or more high in saturated fat (which according to Wikipedia, isn't jerky at all). Because of the the previously poor reviews, I thought I'd set the records straight. If you want a soft meat by product with fat that calls it self jerky, then buy the other brand. But if you want the REAL thing, this is it!

This jerky, like their Hickory Sticks, is delightfully sweet and for the most part readily chewable. The flavor is different from the Sticks, of course, but wonderful. I have found a FEW in each jar that are very hard to chew, or even impossible, but those aren't typical and the majority of them have excellent texture. It would be nice if they could somehow weed out the bad ones, but I still recommend this product very highly if you like meat that is more on the sweet side.

great product but there is a lot confusion around filling these orders. at first there was a problem with them sending the correct amount. instead of a package of 8, they sent one package, which isn't even an option. they finally corrected that and now they consistenly send the wrong type. i keep ordering the buffalo slabs and they keep sending the regular jerky.

For some it may be too spicy.I liked them.:)

Call me a fool, but when I ordered Jack Link's Smokehouse Beef Jerky Medallions, I thought I was getting beef jerky, not frisbees. These seemed more like doggy snacks than real beef jerky.Having eaten many Jack Link's products before, I expected more of the same good quality snacks but this was not one of them.These are made from chopped bits of beef which are then formed into discs. Consequently, the resulting product is tough and plastic-like, for want of a better word. I imagine dogs would enjoy them a great deal.

Two stars for the pleasing peppery flavor and the value. Zero stars for the consistency.

Not what I expected it to be or taste like. Not your typical beef jerky. It's hard to describe what I mean by that, sorry. Thin slices of processed beef. Slick and waxy/greasy, so much so that you feel the need to wash your hands afterwards. A little spicy - burns the mouth a bit afterwards (I guess this is from the added "smoke" flavor.) Not as "tender" as advertised.On occasion you may find quite hard little pieces in them (may be fat, I don't know). I wouldn't suggest eating too many of these at once.
I'm giving it 3 stars instead of 2 because I got it at a good price (because of a rebate) and received a large quantity, so I feel I got my money's worth and because it serves its purpose as a handy, portable snack at work to subside my hunger. But. let's just say that I was planning on buying it again in the future, until I tried it. Now, I'll opt for another Jerky over this kind. Perhaps it's a matter of taste and some enjoy this; but I don't.

Typical beef-base liquid concentrate but nice all the same.Use it like Julia uses wine; especially if you're a fan of savory stews and similar hearty concoctions.Don't bother with precise measurements; a good dollop or two and you're good to go.Remember to eliminate additional salt if you're using this product.It comes as a two-pack; plenty to get you through the fall and winter burguignon season.

Hormel Compleats Beef Pot Roast with Potatoes & Carrots is very tasty, has meat, potatoes, and carrots in good quantity and proportions.There's much more gravy tban necessary in this meal.There is an unreasonably large amount of salt in this meal.Don't have one of these in a day you'll be eating other salty food.

I quite like this meal, but I do worry at how salty it is.

For health reasons I probably won't buy this particular Hormel meal agsin.
