Since Randy "Macho Man" Savage is both my all-time favorite wrestler and color commentator, after his enthusiastic instruction in a commercial to "SNAP INTO A SLIM JIM!", of course I had to pick up a package of Slim Jims at the store, even though I had never actually tried one.
Sorry to say, I was never quite able to "snap into a Slim Jim". If you have ever eaten one, you know how intrinsically difficult it can be to open the package, and in an effort to vigorously "snap into one" like Savage does, I kept punching myself in the face. It even sounded like that punch sound effect you hear in the movies: "BSSHT!" That was plenty embarrassing even by myself, but then after I thought I could get it right I put on my Macho Man Savage mask and ran into my wife's craft room and shouted at her, "I'm gonna SNAP INTO A SLIM JIM!" And then of course, BSSHT!
To make matters worse, my wife then took one out of the box and nailed it on the first try. I told her she was just lucky and so she did it again, and again. The third time she didn't even look at what she was doing, she just looked at me like I was some kind of complete idiot while she did it. She offered me her last one but I insisted on earning it.
Anyway she tried to show me the technique but I couldn't get the hang of it, and every time, BSSHT! Try it with your hands in this direction, BSSHT! Here, try two of them at once, BSSHT BSSHT! She even videotaped one attempt so she could show me in slow motion what I was doing wrong but I still couldn't quite grasp the pinpoint mechanics of it, and frankly it's humiliating to watch yourself on hi-def digital videotape on a big screen TV punching yourself out in slow motion (bssssssssshhhhhtttt!). After I gave myself a black eye I just gave up.
